The method
How these numbers are worked out
The preview is the print, not a picture of it
Every card is laid out in millimetres and previewed at the same proportions it prints at, with type sized as a share of the card's own width. That is what makes the preview worth looking at: if a long name fits on the card on screen, it fits on the card that comes out of the printer.
Sized for the paper both countries actually have
A4 and US Letter differ by 6mm across and 18mm down, so a sheet designed for one prints short on the other. Every layout here fits inside the area they share, which is why there is one set of sheets rather than two that drift apart.
Cut lines and fold lines are printed
Each card carries a dashed outline to cut along and, where it folds, a marked centre line. Empty slots on a part-used sheet keep their outlines too, so the whole page stays a grid you can run a blade down instead of a few cards floating on a blank sheet.
Theme and layout are two separate choices
The theme decides the palette and the motif; the layout decides the arrangement and how much of the page gets covered. Keeping them apart is what stops six themes reading as one card recoloured six times, and it is why every piece — including a new one — gets all four layouts without any extra work.
One theme, applied to everything at once
The theme is held in one place and read by every piece, from the bunting to the photo QR card. Picking a theme sets the whole table rather than leaving you to match ten things by eye.
Every field starts filled in
The preview is the print layout, so an empty field would print as a gap — and the preview stops being useful exactly when you are deciding whether the kit is worth your card stock. Every field opens with an example so the first thing you see is a finished piece, and typing over one replaces it.
Allergy marks are written out in full
The dietary tags come from the same list as the party menu maker, so a dish tagged there means the same thing here. On the printed label they appear as words rather than initials, because the label exists for the guest who has to ask, not for the host who already knows.
Common questions
Do I have to give my email to get the printables?
No. Most free party printables are a PDF held behind an email capture, and what you are really paying is a spot on a mailing list. These print straight from this page — there is no form, no download gate and no follow-up email, because nothing you type here is sent anywhere.
What paper should I print party place cards on?
160–250gsm card. The folded pieces — place cards, table numbers and food labels — are designed to stand up as a tent, and plain 80gsm paper flops over as soon as you let go. Favour tags work on lighter card because they hang.
Will these print correctly on US Letter?
Yes. Every layout is sized to fit inside 190×259mm, which is the printable area A4 and Letter share, so the same sheet works on both without rescaling. Print at 100% rather than 'fit to page' — scaling to fit is what makes a 90mm place card come out at 86mm.
How do I print party bunting at home?
Type your message and the kit makes one pennant per letter, four to a sheet of A4. Cut around the triangle, fold the top strip over a length of string or ribbon, and tape it down. Spaces between words get their own blank pennant, so the gap between words survives being strung up rather than closing to nothing.
What is the difference between the four layouts?
Classic puts motifs in the corners with the name in the middle. Framed adds a ruled border and a patterned wash behind the type. Banner runs a solid colour band across the top with the party name reversed out of it. Minimal is type and a hairline rule — it uses far less ink than the other three, which matters when you are printing forty pieces the night before.
How many party bag tags fit on a sheet?
Twelve, which is about right for a class party. The tool counts the sheets for you as you change the number, so you know what you are committing your printer to before you start.
Can I use it for a wedding or a dinner rather than a kids' party?
The place cards, table numbers and food labels are theme-neutral in structure — only the decoration is aimed at children. The six themes here are kids-first by design; for an adult dinner, the menu maker prints a cleaner card that suits the table better.
Why do the food labels spell out 'gluten free' instead of 'GF'?
Because a parent checking whether their child can eat something should not have to know the code. Abbreviations save space on a card and cost time at the buffet, and the person paying that cost is the one who most needs the answer.
Can I change the theme after I have typed everything in?
Yes, and nothing is lost. The theme is applied when the cards are drawn, so switching from Dinosaur to Space re-colours every piece at once and keeps your names, dishes and tags exactly as they were.
